A Welcome New Year!

No matter how you look at it, 2020 was a challenging year. A pandemic spread across the world and fear gripped many as it was discovered that people older than 65 and those with pre-existing conditions would be more susceptible to dying from this contagion. Governments reacted in the best ways that they knew how in order to keep its citizens safe. Many of these reactions came in the form of regulations about social distancing, mask-wearing and staying away from areas of congestion.

Unfortunately, many of these regulations meant that places of employment were shut down which decreased and in some cases, completely eliminated household income. People suffered and are still suffering, as we not only continue to feel the effects of a global pandemic, but a new, more contagious strain has recently been discovered.

The side effects of the pandemic have created crises in many people’s lives and made our services more important than ever, not only in Oregon’s Rogue Valley, where we got our start, but across the country. This was the main impetus for contemplating creating a National Advocacy Hotline.

We now have the hotline in place and are working diligently on creating the infrastructure to support the effort all while ensuring that we are meeting the needs of the people calling us in crisis.

For example, a 19-year old college student wasn’t feeling well and discovered that she had black mold in her apartment. Over a two month period, she contacted the property management company repeatedly as the black mold infestation grew. Growing increasingly frustrated with their inaction and seeming lack of concern for her health, she contacted Help Now! Our team was able to get the property management company to take action immediately to eradicate the black mold.

Help Now! takes action and advocates for individuals and families who find themselves in crisis situations that they are unable to resolve on their own.

None of this can happen without the help of our donors to whom we are forever grateful! Because of those continued selfless donations, we will be able to expand our services and bring more crisis resolution to an ever-growing body of individuals in need.

At Help Now!, we know that you have many places that you can donate your money and want to thank you for donating to help those in need. We are committed to banding together with you, our staff and our clients to make 2021 an incredible year!

Thank you.

With your support, we can continue to make a difference for people in crisis.
